As part of the major A465 Heads of the Valleys dualling scheme, double corrosion protection anchors were required to tie back a 1200mm diameter contiguous pile retaining wall. Anchors installed at 20 degree declination through a cast in-situ parapet into highly fractured and abrasive quartzitic sandstone.
Our solution involved:
- Design: Installation of three sacrificial test anchors. Full investigation testing in accordance with BS EN 1537:2013.
- Double Corrosion Protection Anchors: Installation of 50 Dywidag DCP anchors in 100mm bore using our Comacchio MC600 drilling rig and 115mm diameter casing system.
- Pre-Stressing: Combined Acceptance Test and permanent locking off/pre-stressing in accordance with BS EN 1537:2013.
