This project involved temporary slope stabilisation in advance of bridge abutment construction, as part of the major realignment and widening of the A465 Heads of the Valley Road. Design by Wentworth House.
Our solution involved:
- 180 9m long R38 self drilling soil nails with 90mm diameter bits installed in mixed rubble and weathered rock at up to 6m above ground level using our excavator mounted TEI Hem 560 drill masts.
- Fixing 2 layers of A393 mesh and permanent drainage to the upper slope and Geobrugg deltax rockfall netting to the exposed rock faces in the lower sections.
- 100 cubic metres of sprayed concrete.
