Between September 2014 and November 2014 Quantum Geotechnical were instructed by Mott MacDonald (Scheme Engineer), on behalf of BAM Nuttall (Client), to undertake a series of ground investigations at various sites along the Cornish coastline which had been subject to coastal erosion and coastal defence damage by recent storm events. The overall works were for the Environment Agency. Four sites were investigated under one project package and included:
- Constantine Bay
- Looe Hannafore
- Praa Sands
- Towan Promenade
The works involved a series of rotary cored boreholes and trial pits to establish ground conditions and aid with construction design detail. Subsequent laboratory testing and reporting was undertaken on each of the sites by Quantum.
